Double Your Joy This Advent Season

November 29, 2020 | Paul Duppenthaler

Some wise men traversed afar over field and fountain, moor and mountain... and they found Jesus, gave away 3 expensive gifts, and went away more joyful than most of us will this Christmas 2000 years later.  Their experience may not be an exact parallel to ours, but the Bible gives us clear teaching about the possibility of our having great joy this season, even in the midst of this global crisis we are in.  Join in the service with us and discover how to find Jesus and double your joy!

Double Your Joy

Matthew 2:1-12 NIV

SEARCH FOR JESUS WITH ALL YOUR HEART.

Jeremiah 29:13 You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.

CLEAR OUT YOUR  .  They are poor substitutes.

Jonah 2:8 NIV84 Those who cling to worthless idols forfeit the grace that could be theirs.

DUST OFF YOUR  .  Rediscover who Jesus really is.

Hebrews 1:1–3a In the past God spoke to our ancestors through the prophets at many times and in various ways, but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed heir of all things, and through whom also he made the universe. The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of his being, sustaining all things by his powerful word.

CLEAN OFF YOUR  .   Start to see Jesus everywhere.

Psalm 19:1–4 The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands. Day after day they pour forth speech; night after night they reveal knowledge. They have no speech, they use no words; no sound is heard from them. Yet their voice goes out into all the earth, their words to the ends of the world. In the heavens God has pitched a tent for the sun.

KEEP YOUR EYES ON HIM!

Psalm 16:8 I keep my eyes always on the Lord.
With him at my right hand, I will not be shaken.

RECOGNIZE THAT EVERY GOOD THING IS   FROM THE LORD.

James 1:17 Every good and perfect gift is from above,
coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights,
who does not change like shifting shadows.

COMPLETE YOUR JOY WITH  .

Psalm 29:2 Ascribe to the Lord the glory due his name;
worship the Lord in the splendor of his holiness.

CREATE NEW TRADITIONS THAT WILL GLORIFY JESUS AND DOUBLE YOUR JOY.

            Worship God Fully…          Spend Less…        Give More…         Love All…

Series Information

A while back, a small group of pastors began to dream of a different kind of tomorrow. They dreamed of a different approach to the Christmas season for their churches and communities. As a result, a radically different approach to Christmas was born. As it is described on their website, “Advent Conspiracy is a global movement of people and churches resisting the cultural Christmas narrative of consumption by choosing a revolutionary Christmas through Worshipping Fully, Spending Less, Giving More, and Loving All.”
