Fear Not, Have Faith!

Genesis 15:1-6 NIV

A. WHEN LIFE GETS DIFFICULT, .

Gen 15:1 After this, the word of the Lord came to Abram in a vision:
“Do not be afraid, Abram. I am your shield, your very great reward.”

1. FEAR NOT, THE LORD IS YOUR .

Rom. 8:31b If God is for us, who can be against us?

2. FEAR NOT, THE LORD IS YOUR .

Psalm 73:25–26 Whom have I in heaven but you? And earth has nothing I desire besides you.
My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.

B. WHEN EVERYTHING GOES WRONG,

1.  GOD’S PROMISES IN YOUR PRAYERS.

Genesis 15:2–3 But Abram said, “Sovereign Lord, what can you give me since I remain childless and the one who will inherit my estate is Eliezer of Damascus?” And Abram said, “You have given me no children; so a servant in my household will be my heir.”

2. FAITHFULLY  GOD’S PROMISES.

Genesis 15:4-5 Then the word of the Lord came to him: “This man will not be your heir, but a son who is your own flesh and blood will be your heir.” He took him outside and said, “Look up at the sky and count the stars—if indeed you can count them.” Then he said to him, “So shall your offspring be.”

Joshua 23:14b You know with all your heart and soul that not one of all the good promises the Lord your God gave you has failed. Every promise has been fulfilled; not one has failed.

C. BEFORE YOU GIVE UP, ZOOM OUT AND

1. YOU ARE SAVED BY GRACE .

Genesis 15:6 Abram believed the Lord, and he credited it to him as righteousness.

If you believe in Jesus, you have an unspeakably great and eternal future.

Romans 4:22–24 NLT Because of Abraham’s faith, God counted him as righteous.  And when God counted him as righteous, it wasn’t just for Abraham’s benefit. It was recorded for our benefit, too, assuring us that God will also count us as righteous if we believe in him, the one who raised Jesus our Lord from the dead.

2. YOUR HOPE IS BASED ON  , NOT YOURS.

Heb. 10:23 Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for he who promised is faithful.

Series Information

The last words of the Apostle Paul included this admonition to the church via Timothy: Preach the Word. This series is a collection of sermons that do just that. As pastor Paul transitions to a new phase of ministry in retirement, these sermons represent the foundational truths he has tried to emphasize over the first 30 years of Countryside's ministry.
