Godly Wisdom in a Pandemic

Series: Being the Church

Godly Wisdom in a Pandemic

August 15, 2021 | Paul Duppenthaler

In the midst of a pandemic, there are many crises arising about how to respond. As a church, we want to glorify God and have unity in our response. To determine how we respond, this morning, I will teach about 5 biblical principles that apply. Let us use these principles to guide our responses at home, at school, at work and in the community.

Godly Wisdom in a Pandemic

  1. We are called to be subject to our governing authorities.

    Romans 13:1 ESV Let every person be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and those that exist have been instituted by God.

  2. We are called not to neglect our gathering together in weekly corporate worship.

    Hebrews 10:25 NIV …not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.

  3. We are called to be a witness to the community in our response to this crisis.

    Matthew 5:14 ESV “You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden.

  4. I am called to care for the Countryside flock as a shepherd cares for their sheep.

    1 Peter 5:2 NIV Be shepherds of God’s flock that is under your care, watching over them—not because you must, but because you are willing, as God wants you to be; not pursuing dishonest gain, but eager to serve;

  5. In all things, we seek to glorify Jesus using all wisdom from Him.

    Colossians 1:28–29 NIV He is the one we proclaim, admonishing and teaching everyone with all wisdom, so that we may present everyone fully mature in Christ. To this end I strenuously contend with all the energy Christ so powerfully works in me.

Series Information

This is a forced diversion from our Matthew series but we are taking the challenge head-on. As we are unable to meet in person, Pastor Paul explains how we are to respond in the midst of the COVID-19 crisis. This is our first video series so gather the family and join us in worship!
