Healed and Reunited

March 20, 2022 | Paul Duppenthaler

As we work our way through this Covid pandemic, there is another pandemic going on that, in the long run, might do more damage. It's a pandemic of loneliness. Jesus addresses this in a subtle way when He heals a leper. Join us to see how this is so very relevant to us today.

Healed and Reunited

Mark 1:40–45a NIV84

THIS IS THE STORY OF A  PERSON  WHO FOUND JESUS.

Lev 13:45–46 Anyone with such a defiling disease must wear torn clothes, let their hair be unkempt, cover the lower part of their face and cry out, ‘Unclean! Unclean!’ As long as they have the disease, they remain unclean. They must live alone; they must live outside the camp.

CLEANSING BEGINS WITH .

Mark 1:40 A man with leprosy came to him and begged him on his knees,
“If you are willing, you can make me clean.”

JESUS IS  TO MAKE YOU CLEAN.

Mark 1:41-42 Filled with compassion, Jesus reached out his hand and touched the man.
“I am willing,” he said. “Be clean!” Immediately the leprosy left him and he was cured.

JESUS CARES ABOUT YOUR  EVEN MORE!

Mark 1:43-44 Jesus sent him away at once with a strong warning: “See that you don’t tell this to anyone. But go, show yourself to the priest and offer the sacrifices that Moses commanded for your cleansing, as a testimony to them.”

THIS RITUAL WAS CLEARLY A FORECAST OF  .

Colossians 1:21–22 Once you were alienated from God and were enemies in your minds because of your evil behavior. But now he has reconciled you by Christ’s physical body through death to present you holy in his sight, without blemish and free from accusation—

THE GREAT EXCHANGE: .

Mark 1:45a Instead he (the leper) went out and began to talk freely, spreading the news. As a result, Jesus could no longer enter a town openly but stayed outside in lonely places.

2 Corinthians 5:21 God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.

LORD, IF YOU ARE WILLING, YOU CAN .

1 John 1:9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.

Series Information

The last words of the Apostle Paul included this admonition to the church via Timothy: Preach the Word. This series is a collection of sermons that do just that. As pastor Paul transitions to a new phase of ministry in retirement, these sermons represent the foundational truths he has tried to emphasize over the first 30 years of Countryside's ministry.
