Signs of the Times

Luke 12:35-40

Genesis 3:14–15 So the Lord God said to the serpent… “I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your offspring and hers; he will crush your head, and you will strike his heel.” 

I. SIGNS OF CHRIST’S VICTORY: GLOBAL .

The Gospel of Jesus will spread to all nations.

Matthew 24:14 And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come. 

II. SIGNS OF SATAN’S LAST STAND: THE CHURCH IS .

1. Persecution will intensify.

Matthew 24:9 Then you will be handed over to be persecuted and put to death, and you will be hated by all nations because of me. 

2. Many uprooted people in the church will grow cold and turn away.

Matthew 24:10–13 At that time many will turn away from the faith and will betray and hate each other, and many false prophets will appear and deceive many people. Because of the increase of lawlessness, the love of most will grow cold, but the one who stands firm to the end will be saved.

 3. The Word of God will become scarce in the Church.

2 Timothy 4:3 For the time will come when people will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear. 

III. SIGNS OF GOD’S SOVEREIGNTY: PLAGUE-LIKE .

1. God’s judgments against the nations will increase and intensify.

Mt 24:6–8 You will hear of wars and rumors of wars, but see to it that you are not alarmed. Such things must happen, but the end is still to come. Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be famines and earthquakes in various places. All these are the beginning of birth pains. 

2. God’s judgments will demonstrate His true justice.

Rev. 16:4–7 The third angel poured out his bowl on the rivers and springs of water, and they became blood. Then I heard the angel in charge of the waters say: “You are just in these judgments, O Holy One, you who are and who were; for they have shed the blood of your holy people and your prophets, and you have given them blood to drink as they deserve.” And I heard the altar respond: “Yes, Lord God Almighty, true and just are your judgments.” 

3. God’s end-times signs will display His grace and patience.

Rev. 16:8–9 The fourth angel poured out his bowl on the sun, and the sun was allowed to scorch people with fire. They were seared by the intense heat and they cursed the name of God, who had control over these plagues, but they refused to repent and glorify him.
