Our default is to look at worship through our eyes . . . what we like and what we want. But worship is for God, so the most important question we should be asking about worship is "What does God wants in worship?"

What God Wants in Worship

Romans 12:1-2

Romans 12:1-2 “Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship. Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.” 

1) God wants worship to  on Him.

Revelation 4:8,11 ‘Holy, holy, holy is the Lord God Almighty,’ who was, and is, and is to come . . . 11 'You are worthy, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honor and power, for you created all things, and by your will they were created and have their being.”

2)  God wants worship that lasts .

Revelation 4:8. “ . . . Day and night, they never stop saying.” 

3) God wants us to worship him in .

John 4:23  “Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in the Spirit and in truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks.”

4)  God wants our  as an act of worship.

1 Samuel 15:22 “But Samuel replied, what is more pleasing to the Lord: your burnt offerings and sacrifices or your obedience to his voice?  Listen! Obedience is better than sacrifice, and submission is better than offering the fat of rams.”

5) God wants us to  in worship.  

Psalm 95:1  “Come, let us sing to the Lord! Let us shout joyfully to the Rock of our salvation.”

6)  God wants you to  your hands and  to God in  songs of joy!

Psalm 47:1 (ESV) “Clap your hands, all peoples!  Shout to God with loud songs of joy!”

7)  God wants us to  in worship.

Psalm 134:2  “Lift up your hands in the sanctuary and praise the Lord.”

8) God wants us to  and bow down in worship.

Psalm 95:6 “Come, let us bow down in worship, let us kneel before the Lord our Maker;”

9)  God wants us to  praise.

Psalm 63:5 (ESV) “My soul will be satisfied as with fat and rich food, and my mouth will praise you with joyful lips,”

10) God wants worship that  or  Him.

Psalm 34:3 (NASB 1995) “O magnify the Lord with me, And let us exalt His name together.”
