James was born in South Korea and moved to California when he was 17 years old along with his family. He and his wife, Margaret, have been married since 1983, and the Lord has blessed them with two daughters, one son, and five grandchildren. In 2004, James moved with his family to Oregon, where they began attending Countryside Community Church in 2007. James began his career in Architecture and eventually transitioned to Tech where he worked in software engineering as a programmer, project manager, and people manager until he retired from Intel in 2021.
Although James was raised in a Christian family, he did not hear the true gospel until he was 25 years old in need of a savior as a sinner. At that time God revealed himself to James, and he praises his Lord and Savior for choosing him “before the creation of the world” (Ephesians 1:4-6). Jesus has been leading James on a journey of faith ever since. His current interest is reading and studying the Bible with his "Done Club" brothers and sisters. This accountability group has helped him to be in the word consistently and read through the complete Bible multiple times. His other interests are facilitating monthly prayer meetings and working with faithful brothers in the Men's Ministry leadership team.
In his spare time, James enjoys traveling with Margaret, spending time with his grandchildren, and riding his motorcycle. He has completed a motorcycle trip around the perimeter of the United States, among other long-distance motorcycle trips.
