What we must get right

to be a fully devoted follower of Christ.

Matthew 16:21-28

  1. JESUS’  .

Matthew 9:2-3 NIV Some men brought to him a paralyzed man, lying on a mat. When Jesus saw their faith, he said to the man, “Take heart, son; your sins are forgiven.” At this, some of the teachers of the law said to themselves, “This fellow is blaspheming!”

Matthew 10:28 NIV Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.

Matthew 12:8 NIV For the Son of Man is Lord of the Sabbath.

Matthew 14:25-27 NIV Shortly before dawn Jesus went out to them, walking on the lake. When the disciples saw him walking on the lake, they were terrified. “It’s a ghost,” they said, and cried out in fear. But Jesus immediately said to them: “Take courage! It is I. Don’t be afraid.

  1. JESUS’  .

Matthew 16:21 NIV From that time on Jesus began to explain to his disciples that he must go to Jerusalem and suffer many things at the hands of the elders, the chief priests and the teachers of the law, and that he must be killed and on the third day be raised to life.

  1. JESUS’  .

Matthew 16:24 NIV Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me.

Series Information

Matthew became the most important of all Gospel texts for first- and second-century Christians because it contains all the elements important to the early church. In this series, we are picking up where we left off in chapter 9 and going on through chapter 13. We'll be covering the importance of getting Jesus' identity right, his healing miracles, discipleship, and several parables. This series will take us through the first half of 2020.
