WHEN DO WE QUENCH THE SPIRIT?

Matthew 13:53-58 NIV 

  1. WHEN   THE LORD FOR ANYTHING.

Matthew 7:7–8 Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened. 

  1. WHEN OUR HEARTS ARE  .

Matthew 7:6 NASB95  Do not give what is holy to dogs, and do not throw your pearls before swine, or they will trample them under their feet, and turn and tear you to pieces. 

  1. WHEN WE KNOW ENOUGH BUT  .

Matthew 11:20, 24 NLT Then Jesus began to denounce the towns where he had done so many of his miracles, because they hadn’t repented of their sins and turned to God.  (Jesus said,) “If the miracles I did for you had been done in wicked Sodom, it would still be here today. I tell you, even Sodom will be better off on judgment day than you.” 

  1. WHEN OUR   HAVE BEEN NORMALIZED.

Romans 1:18 The wrath of God is being revealed from heaven against all the godlessness and wickedness of people, who suppress the truth by their wickedness,

24 Therefore God gave them over in the sinful desires of their hearts…

26 God gave them over to shameful lusts…

28 God gave them over to a depraved mind, so that they do what ought not to be done. 

  1. 5. WHEN   BECOME MORE IMPORTANT THAN THE  .

John 12:37 Even after Jesus had performed so many signs in their presence,
they still would not believe in him.
 

IT’S TIME FOR A CHANGE! 

 

*DO YOU   AS YOUR LORD?

John 1:9–12 The true light that gives light to everyone was coming into the world. He was in the world, and though the world was made through him, the world did not recognize him. He came to that which was his own, but his own did not receive him. Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God— 

*WILL YOU   IN PRAYER?

1 John 5:14 This is the confidence we have in approaching God:
that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us.
 

*WILL YOU   YOUR SINFUL DESIRES?

2 Peter 1:10–11 Therefore, my brothers and sisters, make every effort to confirm your calling and election. For if you do these things, you will never stumble, and you will receive a rich welcome into the eternal kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. 

*YOU ARE INVITED TO   WITH A FULL TANK!

for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.

 

Series Information

Matthew became the most important of all Gospel texts for first- and second-century Christians because it contains all the elements important to the early church. In this series, we are picking up where we left off in chapter 9 and going on through chapter 13. We'll be covering the importance of getting Jesus' identity right, his healing miracles, discipleship, and several parables. This series will take us through the first half of 2020.
