Marriage at the Resurrection

Series: The Gospel of Matthew

Marriage at the Resurrection

June 27, 2021 | Peter Kozushko

Jesus answers a question about marriage and the resurrection posed by the Sadducees, a Jewish religious party that didn't believe in the resurrection. Like the chief priests, elders, and Pharisees who also questioned him, he confounds them with his answer.

Marriage at the Resurrection
Matthew 22:23-33 NIV

At the resurrection, marriage as we know it  .

Matthew 22:30 NIV At the resurrection people will neither marry nor be given in marriage; they will be like the angels in heaven.

At the resurrection, all human relationships  .

1 John 3:2 NIV Dear friends, now we are children of God, and what we will be has not yet been made known. But we know that when Christ appears, we shall be like him, for we shall see him as he is.

At the resurrection, we will experience  of all.

Revelation 19:7-9 NIV Let us rejoice and be glad and give him glory! For the wedding of the Lamb has come, and his bride has made herself ready. Fine linen, bright and clean, was given her to wear.” (Fine linen stands for the righteous acts of God’s holy people.) Then the angel said to me, “Write this: Blessed are those who are invited to the wedding supper of the Lamb!” And he added, “These are the true words of God.”

Series Information

In our continued study of Gospel of Matthew, we see how God’s promises in the Hebrew Scriptures to bring salvation to his people Israel and to the whole world are being fulfilled with the coming of Jesus the Messiah. Our response to this joyful news should be to go into all the world and make disciples of Jesus the Messiah.
